Dasun Shanaka Replaces Injured Glenn Phillips At GT

Gujarat Titans have signed former Sri Lankan skipper & all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as a replacement player for the remainder of IPL 2025. Shanaka comes in as a replacement player for Glenn Phillips, who has returned home due to a groin injury.

Phillips was a base price pick at INR 2 Crore for the Gujarat Titans. Phillips didn't feature in any of the games played by GT this season.

Shanaka Back In GT!

Shanaka, who has played 102 T20Is for Sri Lanka, returns to a franchise that had previously picked him in 2023. The all-rounder featured in just three games that season. He joins the Titans for his base price of INR 75 Lakh.

Shanaka enters the IPL on the back of some solid performances at the franchise cricket level. Shanaka played a pivotal role in the ILT20 earlier this year, representing the Dubai Capitals, scoring 164 runs in 10 matches at an average of 27 & he also picked up four wickets to help the Dubai Capitals clinch their maiden title.

Following his ILT20 campaign, Shanaka also took part in Sri Lanka’s domestic red-ball competitions, featuring in the National Super League 4-day tournament for Dambulla and the Major League Tournament for Sinhalese Sports Club.
